Man charged with stabbing 6 in melee

Six people were stabbed during an early morning melee yesterday that appears to be the work of one man, Annapolis police said.

The fight broke out shortly after midnight in the middle of a residential street in Parole when Ernesto Contreras, 19, allegedly stabbed a man's left arm. Friends of that victim tried to intervene, but Mr. Contreras stabbed them too, witnesses and victims told police.

"One guy is responsible for all this mayhem," Annapolis Police Department spokesman Officer Hal Dalton said.
