Anti-slots groups vow not to accept gambling contributionsPublished 07/15/08
Two high-profile anti-slot machine groups have pledged not to accept contributions from gambling interests and are urging pro-slots groups to do the same. Marylanders United to Stop Slots and Stop Slots Maryland announced their stance during a teleconference yesterday in response to what they called misinformation being spread by For Maryland For Our Future, the leading slots advocacy group. "The folks that stand to gain hundreds of millions of dollars (from slot machines) shouldn't be influencing Maryland voters," said Scott Arceneaux, a senior adviser to Marylanders United to Stop Slots, a coalition of groups...
