Maryland loses 14,000 jobsPublished 07/16/08
The most recent numbers from the state's labor department show Maryland is not recession-proof. Employers in the state cut 14,000 jobs in May, with 1,500 of those cuts coming in Anne Arundel County. The June numbers are not yet available, but Stephen Harrison, the labor exchange administrator for Anne Arundel Workforce Development Corp., predicts more county residents will join the ranks of the unemployed. "The past labor market trends show an increase in the unemployment rate in June, caused primarily by college graduates and (high school) graduates looking for work," he said. jacking up the taxes on people who run small business and employ a number of people wasn't the brightest idea. Wait until Obama does it nationally.
