Officer injured in crash near mall

A county police officer is in stable condition this morning after a car crashed into his cruiser yesterday on Bestgate Road while he was on the way to the scene of an accident.

Paul W. Gillespie — The Capital A police officer inspects the police cruiser involved in a three-car crash Tuesday on Bestgate Road. The accident happened at about  11 a.m. when a car crashed into the officer, who was responding to the scene of another nearby accident. The officer and two occupants of another car were all listed in stable condition this morning.

The officer was driving west on Bestgate Road just before 11 a.m. to respond to a personal injury crash at Route 450 and Riva Road, police said. The cruiser's lights and siren were on, police said.

Personally I would like to forsake driving before I reach the age of 89. If I do not I would like the state or my younger friends to encourage me to ride along with them. Driving is all about reaction times and eyesight.
