Hospitals on par with national death ratesPublished 08/22/08
Anne Arundel County's two hospitals met national standards for treating patients with heart conditions or pneumonia, but they still have room for improvement. Anne Arundel Medical Center and Baltimore Washington Medical Center were among the 46 Maryland hospitals included in the U.S. Centers for Medicare and Medicaid's Services Hospital Compare Web site. The results that revealed the death rates in hospitals were released this week for the first time ever to the public through an online searchable database of more than 4,300 hospitals nationwide.
