The Maryland Health Care Commission's annual report on HMO and point-of-service health plans was released this week and for the first time it also included data for preferred provider organizations. This new data in the 2008/2009 Health Plan Performance Report will give consumers a more complete picture of health care plans offered in the state, making comparative shopping more easy.
Maryland is the first state to include PPOs in such a report, commission officials said.
