The lawsuit, which claims the county has violated the state's Public Information Act, comes as CASA de Maryland investigates whether federal agents and local police officers violated state law June 30 while arresting 46 undocumented workers.
Justin Cox, a civil rights specialist with the Silver Spring-based advocacy group, said they have heard numerous reports of racial profiling and illegal home invasions as federal agents targeted employees of...

Subpoena CASA....... - 2008-11-08 09:04:54
They must know which employers are hiring illegals since they help these illegals find jobs, so why can't we subpoena their records and find out which employers and companies they are referring the illegal aliens to?

CASA is to blame.... - 2008-11-07 08:33:04
CASA of Maryland is a HUGE part of the problem. They help illegal aliens find jobs in Maryland. It is sickening to know that OUR tax dollar help fund CASA, and CASA knowingly aids & abets illegals and helps them find jobs in our community. That also means CASA KNOWS these employers who willingly hire illegals. Why can't we subpoena CASA and make them hand over their information as to exactly what employers are hiring these illegal aliens? So long as our tax dollars continue to fund CASA, and so long as CASA continues to find illegal aliens jobs, the problem will only worsen, not get better. I find it astonishing that CASA is even allowed to operate in our state. They are using the taxes of hard-working, legal citizens in order to aid and abet illegal aliens. That repulses me and offends me, yet seems like there is nothing we can do to stop them.

You are absolutely correct. If the environment in the US did not favor the use of illegal immigrants, than guess what, they wouldn't be coming over here in droves. We have to wake up and realize that Joe Whomever running his business from the sweat of illegal immigrants is flat out wrong and he should be prosecuted severely. The hiring of illegals does far more harm than anything because it undercuts those individuals who are trying to run legit, successful businesses. How can they ever compete with someone who's labor force works for a fraction of the legal amount. Shame on these guys. If we would start putting the fear of the justice system in these hiring managers/owners I'm sure they would make it their duty to assure their employees' immigrant status. Just don't hire them, problems solved. They will have to go elsewhere. And as for businesses that wouldn't survive without the employment of illegals, that really speaks volumes of how you run it now doesn't it.

They ARE aliens. People who come here legally, learn the English language, and pay taxes are IMMIGRANTS. People who sneak into this country illegally, refuse to learn our language, and evade our taxes are ALIENS. They do NOT belong here. They are illegal aliens. They are criminals. Nothing more. Illegal alien criminals evading our taxes and taking trade skill jobs away from legal taxpaying citizens.

Who hires these people - 2008-11-05 22:15:40
Cheap labor has been the BACKBONE of the American economy since its' inception. Started with slavery. Europeans in the depression era, Asians, Arabs, Ethiopians, and now Hispanics. If these companies that are NOT owned by the "illegal" workers hired citizens, would this problem exist? By the way, they were here first, so who really is illegal? If the companies were fined/prosecuted correctly, this wouldn't be nearly as big of an issue that it is. And they aren't aliens either.

Can we LEGAL citizens sue - 2008-11-03 12:51:39
Is it possible that we can find a civil rights lawyer out there who will stand up for us, the LEGAL, TAXPAYING citizens of Maryland? Seriously. Our tax dollars are being used to support illegal aliens. Our rights are being violated. Our safety is being threatened. Against our will, our tax dollars are being funneled into CASA of Maryland. Does anyone know of a lawyer that can file a suit on behalf of US? Our economy is struggling. Money is tight for all of us. We all know of friends and family members who are being laid off or having their hours cut back due to the recession. Yet the red carpet is being rolled out for illegal aliens. It feels crummy knowing tax time is just around the corner, and while we are filling out forms and paying our taxes, illegals are sending money home to their country, avoiding all taxes in this country while OUR TAX DOLLARS are being used to encourage them to stay and helping them find jobs. I personally feel violated. It is completely and utterly offensive to know that our country is being used & abused by illegal aliens, and Maryland is one of the worst offenders allowing it to happen.

I say..go ahead with the lawsuit, and when they all show up, round them up and move them out! Seize the moment, literally. when he said "immigration has always been good for our country." MY ancestors were LEGAL immigrants. They came to this country the legal way, they learned & embraced the English language, and they became hard-working, taxpaying citizens of this country. To equate ILLEGAL immigrants with legal immigrants is ridiculous. They are NOT the backbone of our economy. They are criminals who are using our taxpayer funded services to their advantage and cause our taxes to rise and our health care premiums to go up. Maryland is going to hell in a handbag quickly because O'Malley wants this to be a sanctuary state. To all of you illegal aliens, please take note.....GO HOME!!! You are not welcome in our country. Rudolph where my friend are you reading a racist comment written by a bigot??? All of these posts are against ILLEGAL immigration and not the LEGAL immigrants who have followed the same process as millions of others who help make this nation a great place to live. My ancestors did, and I am certain yours did as well. Please do not generalize what you read, it is a dis-service to your credibility. I am glad to read that CASA is going to waste taxpayer money in a court battle to find out how much taxpayer money was "wasted" finally enforcing some of the rules of this great state. To all of you who help vote O'Malley in, here you go. Remember this next Tuesday when you think of casting your vote for "Change." To all of the Immigrants - 2008-10-31 18:42:31
Despite what's written in these comments, a great many good folks in Annapolis welcome immigrants of all types. Perhaps because of it's ties with slavery, Annapolis has more outspoken bigots and racists than most towns. But the majority here are good-hearted liberal folks who realize that immigration has always been good for our country and the backbone of the economy. And when our government treads on your rights, many of us will stand with you.

Question for everyone.... - 2008-10-31 08:18:13
as legal, taxpaying citizens, what can we do? Is it possible to form an organization, or a group of people to file a lawsuit against the state of Maryland for aiding and abetting illegal aliens? Why are we being forced to allow OUR tax dollars to fund CASA of Maryland without a say in it? These illegals are taking jobs away from legal, taxpaying citizens in our state, and now that the economy is suffering, our legal citizens are hurting more than ever while illegal aliens continue to pay no taxes and continue to find jobs (or have jobs found for them by CASA). What can we do??!! Enough is enough. Complaining on a website doesn't help. Writing to O'Malley won't help, as he won't change his mind about having Maryland continue to be a sanctuary state. So what's our next step? Can WE as legal, taxpaying citizens seek help from the court system since our civil rights are being violated in order to aid and abet illegal aliens without our consent?

Illegals - 2008-10-31 01:11:00
FACT: In the last 22 years, over 26 million illegals, have been apprehended, crossing our Southwest Border.
THE PROBLEM IS: Less than 1, out of 4 illegals, are estimated to have been apprehended.
Mind boggling, isn't it.
According to the U.S. Immigration Service another 6 million illegals in this country are visa overstays.
In the last 22 years, there have been another 4 million anchor babies born to illegals. Anchor babies are now being born at a rate of 350-400 thousand per year in our United States. All at our expense!!
Then the ANCHOR BABIES qualify for welfare, food stamps, section-8 housing, all at our expense.
American Taxpayers are getting screwed, over, and over, and over, again!!!
Each illegal immigrant, on average, costs taxpayers $9,000 PER YEAR, over, and above, anything they might contribute in taxes!!!

Dear Legislators,
Mandate, AND STRICTLY ENFORCE, E-Verify for ALL employers, for ALL employees, and for ANY benefit, and the I.C.E. raids, as well as all of the expemsive new detention facilities, would not be needed.
The illegals would have to begin leaving of their own accord.
Think of the economic effect of giving the 8.7 million jobs, that the illegals have illegally obtained, using forged, or stolen documents, back to Americans.
Think of the economic effect of 65 billion more dollars being spent in our United States, rather than being remitted to Mexico, and South America.
Think of the money saved by decreasing I.C.E.'s effort.
Think of it, and then let's do it!!!
BOYCOTT ANY BUSINESS THAT HIRES ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS!!!
AND LET THEM KNOW ABOUT IT!!!
DURING HARD TIMES, WE CAN HAVE AN IMPACT!!!

D.C. observations - 2008-10-30 19:17:35
I was in D.C. recently at a 'bigwig' function. The valet parking was all done by obviously illegal immigrants. They couldn't even figure out how to take the car out of Park much less actually DRIVE! The local young adults (mostly Americans of African origin) certainly would love to have jobs parking cars but the parking company knows they won't work for illegal wages. Most all Americans welcome legal immigrants but CASA wants to open the floodgates wider and let every Latino in and grant them the same rights and privs that citizens get. So make your application, get your papers together and come on in as we'll be glad to have you, your family and your contribution to America. Otherwise, get out and take your 'Anchor Babies' with you.

Getting worse..? - 2008-10-30 18:48:50
The majority of Democrats and a few Republicans have ignored the illegal immigration invasion. Same with Obama and McCain in the debates. Next month Nancy Pelosi will have reached her goal, as the new Federal SAVE ACT (H.R.4088) drops out of existence. The border fence is way behind and not built to the original plans. Pelosi, Reid gutted the fence behind closed doors.
Incidentally, there is an estimated 37 million, NOT 13 MILLION according to the Tucson sector Border Patrol union local 2544 (with an additional half-million coming every year) a massive financial impact on our economy by importing the worlds poor.

How dare you say they do jobs "whites or blacks" won't do. What they do is take jobs away from white and black trade skill workers who are legal citizens and therefore have the right to be paid minimum wage. Illegals come here and work the same job for below minimum wage, and the companies that hire them in turn can pocket more money. Illegal is just that...ILLEGAL. Every dog has it's day, and I can't wait until every illegal alien gets theirs. They are evading taxes. They are taking jobs away from legal citizens. They are causing MY taxes to rise. They are CRIMINALS. The companies that hire these illegals simply to pay them below minimum wage are just as disgusting as the illegals that are ruining our state.

Obviously there were legal persons involved, however, there were also illegals and criminals. We, of America, must stop the illegals and criminals from entering our country and the immigration groups best take a long look at what they are promoting into our society .Compassion is all fine and dandy, when and where it is deserved, not bleeding heart acts that bring jeapordy into our communities.

Why don't we just throw all legal, taxpaying citizens in jail and let the illegal alien slime balls take over Maryland. What a slap in the face!!!! Illegal aliens are taking over this state thanks to O'Malley's desire to make this a sanctuary state. I am beyond outraged. It isn't enough that illegals evade our taxes, use our taxpayer funded services like emergency health care & public school education, create negative population growth in our communities, and take away trade skill jobs from legal, taxpaying citizens, but now we have to use our court system to in their favor as well?! I feel like a second-class citizen in my own country. What a shame to see MY tax dollars continuously being used to support illegal aliens. Thanks O'Malley.
