There were more than 75 people standing outside many polling stations when the doors opened at 7 a.m.
But those voters remained in good spirits as they eagerly awaited what many described as a once-in-a-lifetime chance to participate in history.

From the state board of elections Web site: "A voter may wear campaign paraphernalia (buttons, t-shirts, or stickers) into the polling place while he or she is there to vote (the voter may not linger in the polling place after voting)."

In the one photo Gov. O'Malley is shown talking to a voter -- inside a polling location in Annapolis. He's clearly wearing a presidential campaign button on his lapel. I may be misinformed, but isn't it against the rules in Maryland to show up with any political messaging on your person?
