Voting smoothApart from complaints of long lines at polling stations, Ross Goldstein, the deputy administrator for the Maryland State Board of Elections, said voting ran relatively smoothly, with few reports of problems around the state. He said all the polls opened on time, and when the occasional machine malfunction or registration inquiry arose, the issues were resolved. Throughout yesterday, the Election Protection network, a nonpartisan voters' protection coalition, reported 391 calls about voting problems and 1,351 questions in Maryland via the organization's hotline.
