Voters handily approve early voting amendmentPublished 11/05/08
Maryland voters yesterday overwhelmingly approved a constitutional amendment to allow the General Assembly to adopt early voting legislation. Statewide, 1,301,177 voters supported the measure, according to the State Board of Elections this morning, while 591,665 opposed it. Results did not include Prince George's County returns, which were unavailable. Locally, Anne Arundel County voters approved the measure 141,421 to 84,545. Queen Anne's County saw a similar trend, with 11,315 voters supporting the measure and 9,075 opposing it. Lawmakers are now free to pass legislation allowing voters to cast ballots up...
