Man killed in motorcycle crash

PASADENA - A motorcyclist was killed yesterday when he crashed into the back of a Buick that was stopped in traffic on Solley Road, county police said.

Anthony Lenwood Richardson Jr., 36, of Holmespun Drive in Pasadena was driving a black 2003 Harley Davidson south near San Gria Court about 5:45 p.m. when he crested the top of a slight hill and came around a curve to the right, police said.

Mr. Richardson slammed on his brakes after noticing a white 2003 Buick Skylark stopped at a traffic signal. The motorcycle skidded about 54 feet before falling on its side and crashing into the back of the Buick. Mr. Richardson, who was not wearing a helmet, was thrown from the motorcycle, police said.

He was taken by ambulance to Baltimore Washington Medical Center in Glen Burnie with critical injuries, said Lt. Keith Hamilton, a county Fire Department spokesman. He was pronounced dead at the hospital, police said.

The driver of the Buick, Jade Rose Russell, 22, of Glen Burnie was not injured.

The accident remains under investigation.

City teen on 'Jeopardy' tonight

Annapolis - Annapolis resident Audrey Hosford is competing tonight in the second day of the "Jeopardy! Teen Tournament" finals, competing against two other high school students for a $75,000 prize.

The program airs at 7 p.m. on Channel 12 on both Verizon and Comcast and at 7:30 p.m. on Verizon Channel 507 and Comcast Channel 193.

A 15-year-old junior at Archbishop Spalding High School, Audrey was one of 15 teens chosen to compete on the show after passing an online test and completing an in-person interview. She traveled to Los Angeles last month for filming.

Schools to close for holiday week

Students in Anne Arundel County public schools have off all of next week.

On Monday and Tuesday, high school teachers have an in-service day, while elementary and middle schools will hold parent/teacher conferences.

All schools and central offices in Anne Arundel will be closed Wednesday through Friday for Thanksgiving.

Public schools in Queen Anne's County also will be closed Wednesday through Friday for Thanksgiving.

City documentary on MPT tonight

Annapolis - Maryland Public Television is airing a documentary chronicling the history of Annapolis tonight as part of the city's 300th anniversary.

The documentary, titled "Annapolis 300: A Capital Celebration," details the transformation of the small, tobacco-producing town of Arundelton along the Chesapeake Bay into the capital city now known as Annapolis.

Producers bill the program as a look inside Annapolis' growth into a crux of diversity and power during Colonial America and its present-day lure.

The city has been celebrating the 300th anniversary of the signing of its charter all year with concerts, pub-crawls, historical tours, and festivals throughout the city.

The documentary airs at 8 p.m. on Maryland Public Television.
