Father is shot, son charged

MILLERSVILLE - A 26-year-old man was charged with attempted murder after county police said he shot his father yesterday during a dispute.

Officers were called to the 800 block of Oakdale Circle in Millersville at 1:15 p.m. for a report of a shooting.

A woman told police that her son and her husband had been arguing and got into a physical altercation.

The son then pulled a handgun and shot his father in the upper torso, police said.

Eric Marshall Radford was located on the scene and arrested.

His father was taken by ambulance to the Maryland Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore where he is being treated for non-life threatening wounds, police said. Mr. Radford is charged with attempted first-degree murder and other related offenses.

Three hospitalized after parkway wreck

JESSUP - An accident on the Baltimore-Washington Parkway sent three people to area hospitals yesterday afternoon, county firefighters said.

At 3:15 p.m. firefighters responded to a crash on the roadway between Route 32 and Route 175. Three people were injured, including a 31-year-old woman who was taken to the Maryland Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore with serious but non-life threatening injuries, Division Chief Michael Cox said.

Two other patients with minor injuries were taken to Laurel Regional Hospital and Howard County General Hospital.

There was no information available on the circumstances of the accident or the conditions of the other two patients, Chief Cox said.
