Governor's Mansion festive for ChristmasPublished 12/22/08
The main Christmas tree at the Governor's Mansion is decorated like a lot of trees in Maryland homes this year because Gov. Martin O'Malley and Judge Katherine O'Malley, first lady, are reusing the ornaments from last year.
Wendi Winters - For The CapitalJudge Katherine O'Malley, the state's first lady, shows the dried, spray-painted hydrangeas that are part of the Christmas decorations on the mantelpiece in the Governor's Mansion state dining room. "We stored them away and brought them out again," Judge O'Malley said. When former Gov. Robert L. Ehrlich Jr. lived there, every year they had new ornaments, loaned by a local store. But reused ornaments don't lessen the festive and fun, yet elegant, holiday atmosphere that permeates the public rooms of the mansion, where the O'Malleys and their family reside...
