Worker critically injured in Parole crane accident

A crane operator was critically injured this morning while preparing to lift air-conditioning units at the construction site of the Annapolis Towne Centre in Parole.

A 46-year-old man is facing life-threatening injuries this morning after a portion of the crane he was preparing for the day's work of lifting a HVAC unit onto the roof of a new 24-Hour Fitness gym under construction at the Annapolis Town Centre at Parole. The accident sent a piece of the machinery crashing onto the cab of the crane, injuring the operator. No one else was injured. At bottom, the massive boom of a crane rested on the ground this morning where it fell during an accident.

Emergency crews were called to 2083 West St., just west of Annapolis city limits, at about 7:15 a.m. to help an injured worker, said Division Chief Michael Cox, a county Fire Department spokesman.

It was the fourth serious accident at the site of Annapolis Towne Centre at Parole since construction began on the retail and commercial space in 2007, including the death of a crane operator last year.

Was the crane U.S. made? I doubt it. Look at the cranes at the Coast Guard Yard in Curtis Bay. U.S. made and doing their jobs since WWII.
