Severn School announces new head for Upper School

After a three-month search involving more than 80 candidates nationwide, Severn School officials have appointed Beatrice R. Fuller to head the Upper School.

Fuller is co-director of college counseling, an English teacher and middle-school coach at Holton-Arms School in Bethesda. On July 1, she will succeed R. Highley Thompson, a Severn alumnus who is moving on after 16 years at the private Severna Park school to accept a position as head of the Upper School and assistant headmaster at Chestnut Hill Academy in Philadelphia.

Fuller said that among the many reasons she was drawn to Severn School is the fact that her parents live...

Liberal thought is a good thing. It is diverse and complex, it is what pushed us forward and allows us to grow as a civilization. If the Conservatives had their way, we would still have whites only water fountains and abortion would be illegal.

Pretty ridiculous comment there, Jonathan. I graduated from Severn a few years back, and I'm happy to report that Severn is a breeding ground for all sorts of independent, critical thought, both liberal and conservative. Turn off the Dittohead screed for a while and get some fresh air.
