The man eventually shot his way out of the Arundel Federal Savings Bank, but didn’t get far — or get any cash. County police caught up with the suspected robber and his alleged accomplice within minutes on Route 50 near Interstate 97.

Bank robbery foiled - 2009-03-24 18:33:16

The article does not fully describe the "problem" the would be robbers experienced.? This is a new type technology being installed in banks- an "air-lock", if you will, which requires anyone who enters to wait until the first door closes before allowing the second door to open.? Having moved to LA recently from DC, I have experienced this first hand.? These systems have been in use here for a number of years.? It's about time they started appearing on the east coast.? Knowing you could be trapped in between the two doors until the police arrive is quite a deterrent to would be bank robbers, not to mention the safety afforded to the tellers and customers in the bank.
