Greenip retiring after 15 years in officePublished 04/22/09
State Sen. Janet Greenip confirmed yesterday that she plans to resign to spend more time with her family, inciting a flurry of activity among Republicans wanting to take over her seat for the one year left in her term. "The word's gotten around that I'm retiring it (the seat)," Greenip said, reluctantly verifying the rampant rumors that she will retire. "I will be announcing it in about three weeks or a month," she said, but she declined to disclose her reasons for waiting a month to retire or to offer any insight into whom she wants to replace her. I certainly hope her replacement is a friend of the Chesapeake. Sen. Greenip has voted against virtually every meaningful environmental proposal.
