Residents, mids honor Wounded Warriors with bike ride

Annapolis-area residents turned out in droves yesterday to cheer - and give thanks to - a special group of bikers passing through town, including a few hometown heroes.

Paul W. Gillespie — The Capital Riders in the Wounded Warriors Soldier Ride make their way over the Naval Academy Bridge Saturday morning. The ride is designed to honor and empower wounded veterans and included two Naval Academy graduates.
More than three dozen veterans, all of them seriously injured in combat, participated in the Wounded Warrior Project's Soldier Ride, one of several such rides held annually around the country.

Among those lining area roadways yesterday to cheer and clap as the riders passed by were midshipmen at the Naval Academy. They were there to lend particular support to one rider, retired Lt. Andrew Kinard, a 2005 graduate.
