Joyce Thomann issued a statement to replace the Hitler comparison she posted on the group's Web site, explaining that her remarks have been taken out of context and she apologizes for any confusion.

"Everything did get taken out of context, and she understands how it can happen," said her husband, Chuck Thomann, who was speaking on his wife's behalf because she was in Denver caring for her ill 95-year-old mother and was unavailable for...

GOP leader criticized for free spee - 2009-06-27 14:53:21

FREE Speech is CRITICAL to Democracy. The first Amendment protects our rights to express our opinions. Todays politicians, and virtually everyone else, try curb free speech, by insulting and criticizing anyone who differs with their political viewpoint.
For example, citizens feel threatened if they criticize the government for giving illegals benefits that Americans cannot afford. For instance when an illegal shows up, they can apply for immediate food stamps and medical care, and birthing of their babies, who are instant citizens of the US. When illegals own a small business, they are exempt from paying taxes for approx. 5 years, unless they put the business in the name of a cousin for the next 5 years, for 5 more years of no taxes. I have heard that many return to Mexico and live like kings and return when the money runs out.

It is obviously not fair to US citizens and taxpayers who have supported our country all our lives by paying taxes until it hurts, if illegals can get badly needed health care when we can't afford it; or to stuggle to put food on the table, as an American, and not be eligible for food stamps.
Americans need to stop acting like sheep and object to these unfair laws that need to be revoked, because those laws are no longer appropriate for our economic crisis.
We need to stop demonizing Americans for free speech.

the basest .George W. Bush, May 15, 2008 :

We have heard this foolish delusion before. As Nazi tanks crossed into Poland in 1939, an American senator declared: 'Lord, if only I could have talked to Hitler, all of this might have been avoided.'

We have an obligation to call this what it is - the false comfort of appeasement, which has been repeatedly discredited by history."

said : "I can't even think how many times I saw a direct reference to him being like Hitler." Obviously not as you fail to have any supporting citations.

Give me a break. - 2009-06-26 22:36:08

The issue of apologizing and demonizing in this instance is plain ridiculous. She did not from what I have read, call him Hitler or even compare him to Hitler, except in his compared tactics. Just as Obama and the Democrats are trying to ram things through Congress, Hitler rammed his forces through Europe creating the term Blitzkrieg or Lightning war. I am sure most of the people riled up about this didn't even know what blitzkrieg meant and because it was linked to the name Hitler automatically assumed it was something bad, when it was simply a tactic of war. While it might have been nice for the Poles, the French and everyone else in Europe for the German war machine to mosey along picking poppies, that is not the way a successful attack happens. If she had compared Obama to Bush with his "Shock and Awe" tactics the Democrats would be complaining as well, considering how they vilified Bush for eight years, and I can't even think how many times I saw a direct reference to him being like Hitler.
You would think with spending this massive our elected officials would want to take their time instead of trying to blitzkrieg it through, but then maybe they know their time is limited on how long they can keep the populace under control. What the Democrats are doing is trying to misdirect the public with this stupid attack on an old lady. Republicans need to grow a spine and stand up to their childish rants. That includes John Leopold. If he has the nerve to go to parking lots he should have the courage to ignore this Democrat Operation Fortitude, as they try to deceive the American people about what all the plans Obama is coming up with are going to cost. While he is making it seem all rosy and giving us a smile pretending to be the friend of all of us, we had better be prepared for an Operation Barbarossa on our wallets.

Democrats need to worry about thier - 2009-06-26 20:49:17

While her comments were a little over the top, why are Democrats demanding an apology when she was speaking to other Republicans. Democrats in Maryland should be apologizing for the bufoon they elected Governor who piddled away a $1 Billion Surplus and has basically run the state into the ground.

Forgive them - 2009-06-26 12:23:42

The GOP must be forgiven. After almost a decade of running this country ( into the ground) they are trying to find their voice. They seem to trying the hate monger route right know--calling the supreme court nominee a racist, and know this Hitler thing. But the Lord has not forgotten that they are the party that represents God and is pro-life and therefore will always be popular with the catholics. for know , let us be patient with the GOP and pray that they may find their way back into power.
