Neighbors in Annapolis Roads were thrilled that a pair of bald eagles took up residence in their community this year.

That is, until one of the pair's offspring tried to take off with Moby the Jack Russell terrier earlier this month.

No one is quite sure exactly what happened, as there were no human witnesses, but Moby's owners, Trip Trubee and Stacey Jurchison, have pieced together the evidence.

Trubee and Jurchison like to let their three dogs have reign of the backyard on nice days. One evening, Trubee came home to find Moby injured and cowering by the house, and his dachshund, Dicky, barking up a storm at the...

We are guests here - 2009-06-29 10:07:16

Like the native 'amerikans' the eagle was here before us. We are guests here NOT the eagle ( or the Native tribes) . We are the one's out of tune with God's grand plan as taught to us by the Lord Jesus Christ

eagle attack - 2009-06-29 06:42:51

I sure hope Mobey copes well after this attack. I love eagles and think they are beautiful but this is a very unfortunate situation. When my silky terrier was about 8 week old and very small, a cat bird flew down swiftly and nipped her. Even now 2 years old, she is very aware of her overhead surroundings. When she is outside she will bark at airplanes and is very aware of the birds. That nip caused her to be real skiddish outside.

Raptors - 2009-06-27 23:54:45

Plenty here in Shady Side. Small pets go missing more than one would think is normal. It's sad when pets get grabbed by these Raptors but it is nature sorting itself out. If I could say anything to these large birds it would be; "Leave the cats alone, they keep the mice and rats away, and leave our companion dogs alone as well. But there ARE some small dogs that won't shut up, and that 'Nuclear Bunny' that ate my garden......"

Brother John Ashcroft - 2009-06-27 11:03:28

Let us not forget that the Eagle is the Great and Glorious Symbol of this Great Nation and all for which it stands
I believe My Bother in Christ John Ashcroft says it best in this beautiful stanza from his great poem " Let the Eagle Soar"; Let the eagle soar,
Like shes never soared before.
From rocky coast to golden shore,
Let the mighty eagle soar.
Soar with healing in her wings,
As the land beneath her sings:
'Only God, no other kings.'
Let the mighty eagle soar.
'Only God, no other kings.'
Let the mighty eagle soar.

The Lord is made manifest in these eaglet and their attack is a Godly message. The meaning of which is that we are NOT treating God's gift ( the earth in its natural state) with the respect it is due and we now must pay the price.
