She just has trouble coming back down to earth.
"She'll take flight, but doesn't know how to come down," said Lott, who's owned the exotic bird for two years.
She thinks it's because the bird is domesticated and not used to flying.
So Lott's mother, Joan, panicked when she had Puffy outside the family's Pasadena home last week and she flew away, soaring from tree to tree and finally landing in a neighbor's tree on a branch about 75 feet in the air.

I used to be able to fly, but my handlers didn't like it when I did. So, they clipped my wings. Now I can't fly and I'm the most depressed animal that ever lived.

is not cruel for a domesticated parrot. It ensures their safety. It is very easy for a parrot to be seriously injured by flying into a sliding class door thinking that it is open air. If you plan on putting your bird outside, please clip its wings or tether the bird. A bird the size of a cockatoo is not likely to be injured by another household pet by not being able to get away.
