Gardner was in the basement around 11 p.m. Tuesday when he heard sounds of apparent love-making upstairs in Johnson's bedroom, according to charging documents.

He grabbed a .38-caliber revolver registered to him...

Tragic Murder - 2009-07-02 22:37:12

There was a time when two people murdered in their own bed was considered a capital crime. The fact that the woman was his ex-girlfriend makes no difference. His behavior had no excuse. The child now has to deal with this trauma, and that is not easy. I lost my father when I was 12 and it caused problems for me for over 30 years. I hope the courts will bring justice for the two who were lost, and the innocent victim left behind. And thank's to the Capital staff for recognizing the child's needs in this story.

murder two - 2009-07-02 17:32:46

Second degree murder indicates this was a crime of passion not a crime of premeditation. There is not just a grisly scene painted in this article, but a scene that implies that the way this crime was committed was both direct and articulate. He was cool enough to tuck the boy back into bed after committing this henious crime, a fact which belies his self-possession during the crime. As if finding someone in bed granted a license to kill, the state blames the victims once again by not seeking punishment fit for this crime.

I hope the Son is with Loved Ones - 2009-07-02 12:05:03

I am glad like Mr.Reinhart that they did focus on the young mans' love of Robotics. Hopefully when he is able to he will be able to focus his energies to create a Robot for his mom. As long as he is in the right hands this young man should not having any problems dealing with his mothers death. People who will allow him to grieve but not allow him to use her death as a reason to have behaviour problems. I wish the best for this kid....Much Success to him....

Human interest - 2009-07-02 11:44:24

This article does a great job at telling us who the boy is. I am moved and angry. It is the child that pays the price for this crime of passion and I hope he has a loving Father or close relative to give him some time to heal in a loving and nurturing environment. anyway good article and obviously you have a good source in order to publish this level and amount of detail/
