Shipmaster Court residents all display American flags year-round

Don App would eagerly return to the military if it were ever asked of him, but he doesn't meet the age requirements anymore.

Joshua McKerrow — The Capital Don App adjusts the flag flying outside a home on Shipmaster Court in Heritage Harbour. App, a Coast Guard veteran, has always flown an American flag as a show of patriotism.

Instead, the Coast Guard veteran proudly flies an American flag every day of the year, weather permitting.

"We're patriots," he said. "There's nothing I wouldn't do for this country."

Apparently, all his neighbors feel the same way. Every one of the 15 homes on Shipmaster Court in Heritage Harbour flies the Stars and Stripes next to the garage door, and not just for the Fourth of July.
