'Now that's the Fourth of July'

Published 07/05/09

Golly, what a Fourth of July! That's what people were saying yesterday around Annapolis as a gentle breeze blew through town and the city put on an Independence Day parade that got folks talking.

Joshua McKerrow — The Capital Curtis Haley is Uncle Sam in the Annapolis Fourth of July parade Saturday. This was the fifth year Haley has marched in the Annapolis parade.

Even the gods of mayhem cooperated, according to county Fire Department spokeswoman Capt. Debbie Bowen.

Parade - 2009-07-05 15:27:05

I didn't think the parade was "old-fashioned" at all. For one, I didn't see how the belly dancers tied in with our nation's birthday. The only band was the asian cultural association. Where were any local high school bands? I didn't see any veterans riding on cars for example. It would have been nice to see more antique vehicles and possibly military vehicle collectors as well. The number of mayoral candidates was laughable. The parade was a disappointment for me and my family.

Did Anyone See The Mayor? - 2009-07-05 10:18:58

The Capital has her down for a pre-parade interview, but I did not see her in the parade. Did anyone see her?
