It took Kevin Jackson two tries to get on the county Board of Education. He was nominated for the post last year, but didn't get the governor's appointment.

Jackson, center, was joined by his wife Monique Jackson, as he was sworn in Monday by Circuit Court Clerk Robert P. Duckworth. This year, he made it. I have worked with Kevin over the last couple of years and let me tell everyone that Mr. Kevin Jackson is an excellent, motivated professional who brings enthusiasm, dedication and insight to all issues in which is is involved! The Board will see that it was fortunate that Kevin sought to become involved here as he will bring vitality, frankness and meaningful solutions to this forum!

How interesting that this "process" is called smooth but has never been called "the right thing to do". What is it that's so damning about an elected Board of Education...just like the rest of the country. Why not make the BOE responsible to the citizens they are supposed to represent?
