Library of Congress expands at Fort Meade

Fort George G. Meade houses its share of secrets, but along the southern edge of the 5,000-acre post is a pristine compound filled with information being preserved for posterity.

Or, preserved for at least the next 240 years, when the paper documents turn yellow and the ink fades away.

On Tuesday three new additions to the Library of Congress' buildings at the fort were dedicated. In the next three years they will be filled with books, maps, globes, microfilm, prints, photos and other publications.
