Volunteers practice for a real natural disaster

It is Sept. 30, 2009, and the worst of Hurricane Zeke has ravaged the area just 24 hours ago. More than 13,000 homes have been destroyed or damaged, 40,000 residents are without power, and phones are out in many areas of the county.

To add to the misery, an additional 8 to 10 inches of rain is expected during the next 48 hours.

It couldn't happen here. Or could it?

Thirty area residents participated in a role-playing drill in a large meeting room Saturday morning at Anne Arundel Community College in Arnold. There were no explosions, smoke or volunteers feigning bloody wounds, but the mood was serious at stations set...

Wow. After Sep 30, 2009 and Hurricane Zeke - the 26th named storm in about as many days. We'll be so waterlogged by then, what's one more little hurricane?
