He said his campaign had trouble gaining momentum and did not think it was possible to win.

Additionally, he has decided to back Democrat Trudy McFall and is asking his supporters to do the same.

"I entered the 2009 race in the firm belief that I was the best candidate to heal the wounds from the current administration and bring us all back together as citizens in a common effort to make Annapolis what it should be," he said at a brief press conference on the steps of City...

A true Statesman - 2009-09-12 07:44:39

Gil is a true Statesman. From the beginning of his campaign he has spoken of his passion to make Annapolis a better place for all and to see a Council-Manager form of government in place. These were his passions. His decision to leave the Mayors race and endorse Trudy McFall is a true testament to those passions.

Gil has dedicated countless hours to numerous civic and community groups over the years, and has always given selflessly to his community and any cause for which he was involved.

I believe each of us running for public office could learn something from Gils tireless spirit and dedication.
