With thousands of visitors each day, malls are a hub of everyday life. But they can also be a place where thieves and other criminals prey on unsuspecting victims.

Security guard Michael Smith Jr. helps Dawn Hudson with directions in the mall. Her son Colten, who is 11 months old, waits for his mom to move it along. Smith is a guard with Professional Security Consultants, a company that provides security for the Westfield Annapolis mall. Anne Arundel County is home to three malls - Westfield Annapolis, Marley Station and Arundel Mills - that boast millions of visitors each year. Each has its own security system and has had its own share of police calls in recent years. In most categories, Arundel Mills outpaces the other two malls for reports of crime, with Westfield Annapolis second and Marley Station third. "Arundel Mills has seen a slight uptick in robberies - as of last month, the facility had already seen one more robbery than it had in all of 2008." We are only 3/4 of the way through the year and the Mall has failed the community, again. And the Capital supports bring an addtional 12,000 people per day to the mall for slots?
