Chester resident Mark Kodey, 52, died of his injuries at Anne Arundel Medical Center after he was pulled from Crab Alley in Eastern Bay, according to the Natural Resources Police.
Kodey headed out solo in his 12-foot sailboat last night, even though friend and neighbor Steven Ripkin, 44, warned him not to go.
"I said, 'I don't think you should do it,' " Ripkin recalled this morning. "It looked too rough."
As Kodey went out on the sailboat, Ripkin followed on his windsurfing board....

12 foot sailboat is pretty small to be out on a gusty windy bay. The Chesapeake bay can be very unforgiving.

what kind of boat was it? Why would he not wear a life jacket when it was nuking (term used for really windy when sailing).
