Hundreds of kids get 1st doses of H1N1 vaccine

Minutes before receiving one of the county's first swine flu vaccines yesterday, 5-year-old Cade Fanning put his concern bluntly.

Shannon Lee Zirkle — The Capital Jameson Haynes, 4, of Annapolis receives the H1N1 virus nasal spray vaccine Thursday afternoon at the Annapolis Health Center. The county Health Department is holding another clinic Friday by appointment only and expects to receive another batch of the vaccine later this month.

"Mom, so if I get it, I won't die, right?" he asked.

"No," his mom Donna explained gently, restraining her laughter.

"If you get it, it means you won't get sick," she said. "Or if you do get sick, it means it won't be very bad."
