In all of his 60-plus years, Mike Tsourounis never thought he would be standing in the same room as the ecumenical patriarch, the leader of the Orthodox Church worldwide.

Ecumenical Patriarch Batholomew l, the worldwide leader of the Orthodox Church, conducts a service Monday night at Sts. Helen and Constantine Greek Orthodox Church in Annapolis. Worshipers gathered with candles outside the church and listened as he gave a blessing before entering the sanctuary.
His All Holiness Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew I visited Sts. Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Church in Annapolis Monday evening. He is the Greek Churches highest official, similar to the Pope in the Catholic Church.
But last night, Tsourounis was part of the welcoming party that greeted Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew I to Sts. Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Church in Annapolis.
"I never thought I'd live to see the supreme boss come and talk to our congregation," the 34-year parishioner said. "Now I have an opportunity to be part of the welcoming party."
The patriarch stopped in Annapolis last night to celebrate his 18th anniversary...
