'Mayor' of Eastport Leon Wolfe dies at 93

Leon Wolfe, whose Eastport barbershop served as a gathering place for the community and earned him the moniker of "Unofficial Mayor of Eastport," died Tuesday of respiratory failure. He was 93 years old.

He served as the community barber for more than 68 years. After learning the trade from his older brother, he opened up shop in 1933. He then moved to Fourth Street in 1960, where he stayed until retiring in 2002.

Annapolis has lost a true legend. I've know Leon since I was a little boy. There was not a kinder, funnier, or more down to earth person. My sympathies to Ron.
