City Council delays energy park votePublished 11/24/09
The City Council last night postponed negotiating a lease for the development of a state-of-the-art power plant, drawing immediate fire from the outgoing mayor. Mayor Ellen O. Moyer, a major supporter of the park, condemned the delay and warned that it might derail the project altogether or make it smaller, less prestigious or less profitable. High-profile companies and banks don't take kindly to these types of delays, she said. "They'll move on to somewhere else," she said. It must be in the water. Yet another example of elected representatives unwilling or unable to make decisions. Here the Council blames others for their incompetence. Seven Seas was the best, Seven Seas not the best. Then blame Seven Seas for the council's dysfunction. Was there another 'Blue Ribbon Committee' involved? The icing on this cake was Ms. Moyer blaming Site Realty's ability to direct the city council's action, designating them as Market House master lease holder. The results of the Mayor's and Council's decision was years of dysfunction. Then the Council payes Site Realty millions to leave! Unbelieveable, contemp.
