"I am rarely at a loss for words," Judge Robert C. Wilcox said. "But I have never, ever, ever seen a picture of a more filthy or more disgusting house. Caves are cleaner than this."
During a hearing in Annapolis, Wilcox told Janet Taylor and her son, Jeffrey, Wilcox both Pasadena residents, that he could send them to jail - but that might be too good for them.

junk psychosis - 2009-12-06 06:54:31
It is sad to know that a problem can get out of hand like this. But they are not alone. I feel trapped in a junk house in Annapolis also. I rent a room and have watched conditions disentigrate over time. Junk is piled high in every room. With three cats and a one-armed squirrel in the basement, I always worry about the consequences. Social pressure is not enough, measures need to be taken. This type of mental illness cannot be overlooked any longer, due to health consequences and neglect. Taking pictures and documenting these conditions, going to church and praying, and reaching out to the community for support are some of the things I have done, but I am afraid these conditions will continue to be a problem as long as people don't want to face that regular neighbors can downward spiral into squalor for no apparent reason. When I got back from St. John's College in Santa Fe, where I was immaculatly clean, I moved back to Annapolis, struggled for financial independance, but cannot make progress in these conditions. Why the county allows this is ludicris. Shame on them.
