Home of the Week: At home upon 2 hulls

It all started with a comment. The man turned to his wife and said he'd like to retire to a boat.

That's the past, though - let's get to the present.

It's a balmy 32 degrees with a layer of ice on the eastern side of the Chesapeake Bay, as a tug pushes a barge beneath the two spans of the Bay Bridge.

Farther out, you can see a few intrepid watermen and some freighters, but for the most part, it's silent and it's darn cold - bone-chilling cold.

On land, there's smoke coming from chimneys, snow covering the fields and people bundled up as they go about their business.
