Obama budget boosts funding for bay

The federal government may be short on money, but the president has found more cash to pour into the Chesapeake Bay cleanup effort.

President Barack Obama's proposed budget for fiscal 2011, released yesterday, includes $63 million for the Chesapeake Bay Program - a $13 million increase over the current year.

Congress will have to approve the spending - and could increase or decrease the amount of bay funding - before the new fiscal year starts this fall.

The increase for the Chesapeake Bay Program was a bright spot for the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, which saw a slight decrease in its overall $10 billion...
