Home of the Week: Still loving the place they call home

The twisting, turning, winding Harwood Road is as scenic a drive as ever there was one, but with the recent snow, it just doesn't get much better.

Joshua McKerrow — The Capital Diane and Mike Gainey’s French Provincial-style rancher offers up about 5,000 square feet, including a finished basement, four bedrooms and lots of wooded land. They raised three kids here and currently share the home with their two golden retrievers, Oakley and Maggie.

Yes, it's hair-raising with the snowbanks impinging upon an already narrow road, but it's also pastoral, picturesque and off the beaten path.

That's exactly what brought Diane and Mike Gainey from Prince George's County to the Davidsonville community of Merrywood Manor 28 years ago.

"It was just acreage - we fell in love with it," Diane said. "We paid off the land, then we built the house 22 years ago."

They raised three kids here...

Have not looked at the pictures yet, but you get over the pax.river you are in another world with horse farms,sod farms and lot's of very neet places like garden centers to go,without even going to Annapolis.like Mayo,Galesville and Deale, Rosehaven,North Beach and Cheapeake are not that far away. While I now live in De. I spent 30 years in a.a. and loved it living on the west river..........love where I am at now too the only difference is I am now in the corn fields.
