Capital Gazette Communications
Published 03/10/10

County Del. Don Dwyer's attempt to impeach the attorney general later this month could turn into an ugly battle over the power to control issues - and end with Dwyer being escorted from the chamber.

Dwyer, R-Glen Burnie, said yesterday that he will offer impeachment charges against Attorney General Douglas Gansler on March 31, even though House Speaker Michael E. Busch, D-Annapolis, has said he will follow legal advice that the House has no authority to so.

"He will be charged with impeachment unless the speaker rules me out of order and has me removed from the assembly," Dwyer told reporters. "I hope that...

Dwyer is obviously brilliant - 2010-03-12 14:31:50

Don't be too hard on Delegate Dwyer just because he did not attend college--he is obviously a man of great natural intellect. After all, he knows more about the State constitution than the Attorney General, more about the U.S. constitution than the Supreme Court, and more about what Jesus thinks than the people who wrote the Bible.

I agree, and I apologize. there are a lot of very enlightened, intelligent, and articulate autodidacts in this world. I think it is equally if not more offensive to say Dwyer is suffering from a genetic defect.

He simply has a limited his pool of ideas from which to draw and probably has been somewhat isolated from the diversity of our wonderfully perfect imperfect culture,

No college education, is a very rude insult to all of us working hard every day, that do not benefit from a college education. This is still America, and hard work can still be rewarded.

(Dwyer) is absolutely right - 2010-03-11 07:42:35

Impeachment is sometimes the only act, that remains to control out of touch elected officials.

Dwyer - Impeachment - 2010-03-10 21:44:13

It may seem hard to believe, but folks like Dwyer give politicians a bad name. What is his aim? Is it impeachment or is it an effort to increase Dwyer's own popularity (notoreity)?

Impeach Don Dwyer - 2010-03-10 17:23:36

Where do we sign the petition to Impeach Delegate Dwyer? This bigot was elected by just 25 votes and he has been a consistent embarrassment to our County and State.

Dwyer issue - 2010-03-10 16:27:18

Dwyer is the only one with some guts left in the Maryland legislature, the rest are all O'Mally puppets going with the flow. Whether this procedure is right or wrong is not the issue, the issue is that he takes a stand and sticks with it. The rest are all flip floppers.

Duck - 2010-03-10 12:41:30

Dwyer needs to realize that this line or action is going to be embarrassing and that he does not have popular support for it. The first step of legislating is making sure you have your ducks in a row. Well, the ducks are paddling away as quickly as possible.

I too deny that the AG has the power to decide these matters, but this supposed impeachment path is the wrong one to be going down.

You are going to make a fool of yourself.
