The officer, a three-year veteran of the Eastern District station, was patrolling the Woods Edge community at about 10:15 p.m. when he saw a man jumping on the roof of a parked Pontiac minivan at the intersection of Elvaton Road and Starwood Drive, said Justin Mulcahy, a county police spokesman.

This will go on for a bit. The girlfriend says he did not charge at the officer and she was not being attacked but they were messing around. She says they intend to sue the County for this.

Now with that said, pulling out two sets of taser prongs doe seem to indicate that he was on something for sure.

Cops can be bad. But most of them are not and we have to give them the respect that their uniform commands. They are typically more well protected, they have a gun, and they have the authority of the law behind them. Right or wrong--obey the cop and then take whatever measures are needed to prove your case after the incident has calmed down.

From what it sounds like--third party witness accounts of erratic and violent behavior--it certainly sounds like the officer was justified in shooting this man.

That being said, Sidney, I think it's unfair to call those who question the actions of police officers "whiners." Carrying a badge doesn't exempt law enforcement from having to answer questions about shooting a civilian.

I do want to emphasize that I believe that this particular officer was completely justified in his actions.
