If approved by the U.S. Senate, Rear Adm. Michael H. Miller will become the academy's 61st superintendent. A 1974 academy graduate, he will be promoted to the rank of vice admiral upon assuming the superintendent's post.
Miller will replace Vice Adm. Jeffrey L. Fowler, a 1978 academy graduate who became superintendant on June 8, 2007.
The superintendent's position is normally a three- or four-year assignment, an academy spokesman said.
