County has an oppportunity to profit with this parcel. A mixed use, perhaps in conjunction with the medical center, combined with housing and retail. The clean up should be done in conjunction with the State. A partnership with a development group, where county retains an interest, i.e. long term lease on land, could help mitigate budget deficit. Giving the property away or rushing to make a decision may not be wise.

I see this property almost daily as I drive by, and the only thing that keeps coming to mind, is converting it into a college or university. The complex has many buildings and areas that could be used as separate fields of study. It also has area enough to put in the appropriate sports complexes and fields.

What a great place for slots! Wow! all the $$$ it could generate in such hard times! It is so badly needed. With the funds produced you can expand the roads the sewers you can connect it to BRAC funneling the growth to 2 sides of the county. Put it in the middle of the 500 acres that is just about the same distance proposed at the Mills site. How about a dog racetrack to? somebody get Mr L on the phone time for the county to lead the charge on this one just like the mills "whats a little impact among citizens of the same county the land is already developed"
