Laura Wright has been cutting hair in Annapolis for more than 20 years. Most of the time, the razed clippings land on the floor. They're swept up by an assistant and dumped in the trash. Hair today, gone tomorrow.

"When a client wants some to use in their garden as a deer repellent, I'm happy to hand them over," said Laura, 42, who has owned Liu Liu Salon & Spa on Bay Ridge Avenue for four years. Several times a month, when customers are ready to shear off their long hair to donate to Locks of Love, she happily provides a free haircut.
