South county archaeological location rich in Native American artifacts

Pig Point, the county archaeological dig in south county awash in ancient Native American artifacts, drew the interest of an international group of antiquities-minded officials Friday.

A group from around the world visited the county’s Pig Point archaeology site in Lothian recently.
The group, in the country on a three-week tour sponsored by the U.S. State Department’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs, was fascinated.
Some of the 22 participants, from as many countries, deal with antiquities as old as can be found, like those of Egypt, Afghanistan, Laos and other centers of past civilization.
Still they hovered around county archaeologist Al Luckenbach as he explained the layers of artifacts...
