Bike thefts rose sharply in 2008 and have leveled off in recent years, with 54 incidents reported last year. So far this year, 31 bikes have been stolen.
Meanwhile, after a sharp decline last year, scooter thefts are on the rise again in the last few months, city police Maj. Scott Baker said.
