District 36: Pipkin seeking third term in state Senate

District 36 candidates

Here are the candidates running in the District 36 state Senate primaries. All the candidates were asked to provide their backgrounds and photographs, but one did not.

Robert J. Alt

  • Party: Democratic.
  • Residence: Elkton.

Steven A. Mumford

  • Party: Democratic.
  • Age: 54.
  • Occupation: Historian and tour guide.
  • Education: Chesapeake College, Tarkio College, Washington College.
  • Residence: Chestertown.
  • Family: Single.

Donald Alcorn

  • Party: Republican.
  • Age: 64.
  • Occupation: Cybersecurity and intelligence officer.
  • Education: Anne Arundel Community College, University of Maryland University College.
  • Residence: Queenstown.
  • Family: Married, two children.

E.J. Pipkin

  • Party: Republican.
  • Age: 53.
  • Occupation: Full-time legislator.
  • Education: Salisbury State College, Roanoke College, University of Virginia Darden Graduate School of Business Administration.
  • Residence: Elkton.
  • Family: Married, three children.

Here are the candidates competing in the District 36 Republican House primary, which only allows one candidate per county.

Stephen S. Hershey Jr.

  • Party: Republican.
  • Age: 46.
  • Occupation: Real estate executive.
  • Education: Catholic University of America, George Washington University.
  • Residence: Queenstown.
  • Family: Married.

Richard Sossi

  • Party: Republican.
  • Age: 67.
  • Occupation: Full-time legislator.
  • Education: University of Colorado.
  • Residence: Stevensville.
  • Family: Married, one child.
