Do Unto Others.... - 2010-09-08 11:48:09
"Do Unto Others before they Do It Unto You" seems to be the mantra of the road these days. Traffic is horrible, everyone's in a hurry and people are inherently competitive. It is a shame and dangerous that the only 'release' of that competitive spirit seems to happen when people are behind the wheel of a motor vehicle.

Not doing a lot of out-of-the-area driving lately but there is in incredible mindless obsession with "getting ahead of the next guy" on the roads by whatever means, weave in and out, no turn signals, racing along only to have to slow up at the next light or behind the main traffic stream. They look unbelievably moronic doing it but it seems to be the driving "Game" these days. ("I may be stupid .... but I'm gonna be ahead of you, yuck, yuck, yuck"...

I wouldn't exactly call this scientific - I mean, maybe Allstate insures lousier drivers than other companies.
All this really is is a survey of the states where Allstate has the worst drivers. Give me DOT stats and maybe I'll think twice.

This One's for You... - 2010-09-07 14:50:54
Mr. solo Ford F-150 on Route 50 in the HOV lane; no signaling on lane changes; throwing out the cigarette so that it makes this eerie crumbling glow in the a.m. commute. Last count: four NASCAR bumper stickers - and a faded one that says "How's my driving"? Well ahleast I aint'a texting....
