During the War of 1812, it served as a signal point to warn Baltimore of the approaching British fleet. The grounds consist of a stone house, a "new" kitchen (added in 1850s), a stone milk house, gardens, a cemetery, and even an active beehive. The original working farm had 409-acres and was located on three bodies of water: the Patapsco River, the Chesapeake Bay and Bodkin Creek. Occupied by the Hancock family until 1962, Hancock's Resolution currently occupies 26 acres. It is now owned by Historic Annapolis Foundation, leased by Anne Arundel County and operated by Friends of Hancock's Resolution (FOHR).
