Quilters Janet Kamischke and Rhoda Campbell smiled broadly as they spotted the pieces they created for the "Legacy Through Stitching" exhibit at The Gallery at Woods Memorial Presbyterian Church, 611 Baltimore Annapolis Blvd.

The show features 19 colorful quilts and samplers crafted by members of The Woods Quilters. It is the third in a series of events honoring the church's 100th anniversary.

On Jan. 24, Green Hornets general manager Jim McCandless passed away, but not without leaving his mark on the largest community youth organization in Anne Arundel County. Severna Park mourns death of longtime baseball coach Jim McCandless

Jim McCandless, a successful Severna Park High School baseball coach and manager of the Green Hornets youth organization, died Tuesday.

The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner ruled the death a suicide. McCandless was 43.
