I’ve witnessed seasoned anglers and professional outdoorsmen throw a fit after losing a fish that’d make a third-grader blush. Would you care for some whine with your crying jag, sir? On the far end of that same spectrum I’ve watched newbies to our sport yip with unabashed excitement at catching their first rockfish, even if it wasn’t big enough to tap out a 12-inch ruler.
It never ceases to amaze me at how serious angler...

Pity Dylan Ronayne, a budding fisherman of Kent Island, whose share of the limelight in big game fishing circles was short lived last week because in the same week both new Maryland thresher and mako shark records were set off Ocean City. Dylan learned that a fish big as it is can be can be bested by another at any time - and that's what fishing is all about.

Dylan, in a 2 1/2-hour battle, reeled in a 443-pound thresher shark of 15 ...

At the recent Maryland District Championships in Frederick from June 12-14, the 7.0 team of Jason White and Michele Archibald advanced to the semifinals after sweeping its flight. Unfortunately, they ran into one of the powerful Montgomery County teams and went down to defeat two matches to one. This year Montgomery Co...
